Hi guys, just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the pros and cons of each and which would be the most preferred choice between the two? Any suggestions, experiences etc would be much appreciated.
i have the Turbosmart Kompact Series Dual Port BOV and i have had it on for about 7-8 months now. It did throw a DV code (diverter valve) on VAG COM at the last dyno day but nothing sinister has happened to the car yet...touch wood
the dual port (splitter) will send half the air back into the intake system (which is needed for our MAF sensor) and half out into the atmosphere, making the pssshhhhh noise. it has been said that this increases turbo lag but i am yet to experience this. you do run the risk of putting your car into limp mode cos of the lack of air being recirculated. this can be sorted by just turning the knob on top of the BOV to a harder setting.
full plumbback....well....it will keep your MAF sensor happy but you just won't get the "pssshhhhh" noise of the dual port.
whatever you do, don't buy a full atmosphere BOV, our cars do not accept them.....your car will definitely go into limp mode.
if i was to choose again i would go for a full plumbback BOV. the beauty of mine is that i have a screw-in plug to make it a full plumbback if anything bad happens.
Kai had the same as mine and had his car "shut down" (everything shut off - electrics, engine, lights) on the HWY. he just put the clutch it, turned it off, then back on again and it was fine
Blitzen (Ryan) has the Forge Dual Port, he'll be able to fill you in on that one.

I have fitted the Forge Dual Port BOV to my car, and have not had any dramas concerning Limp Mode or poor performance.
The Forge BOV (FMDSPLTR) is designed so that 70% of the air goes back to the intake, and 30% to atmosphere. This will not affect the ECU.
I know that Dave Mack has a APR R1 Diverter Valve, so talking to him may help.
"If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."
Thanks for your opinions Blitzen and Polo Gti...Just also wanted to know if any particular one would be better performance wise and which one would provide an overall benefit to the car?
I've always wanted a turbo charged vehicle so I could fit a BOV in it and from my understanding there's no 'psssshhh' sound with the APR one but there is with the Forge splitter one. So would I be correct in assuming that the FOrge splitter one would not cause any limp mode or MAF sensor problems? Also, since the Forge one does comes with a blanking plate which allows it to be converted to a full plumback one, would it be better for me to buy the Forge one rather than the APR one since I can change it from sound to no sound configurations?

I'm not against you but it seems you don't know that you can use the research function on the forum either you are a little bit lazy...
I have a GFB BOV. It lets me turn itself from 100% atmo to 100% plumb from inside the car. I've never run into any problems with 100% atmo, but i'm kind of over it now and run it plumb back nearly all the time.
No idea why mine works fine on atmo, no limp mode. It does make the gear changes a little more choppy i think, but tahts about all i noticed.
have u's ran a full atmo BOV before?? coz alot of people who are not on these forums do.. mite run rich, but on d dyno.. no major problems
I ran it at full atmo for a while. Worked great. Then randomly one day it started dieing.
You can also run the car without the maf sensor. Just unplug it and the esp light comes on. I did this for abit too (with maf removed).. No idea if it was doing any damage. Car ran perfectly normal. But didnt stall with the bov fully atmo.
Apparantly unmuffled BOVs are illegal on Oz roads. Does the Forge Splitter come under that category? That make a hell of noise one would think thats just going to alert the plod.
If you put any form of atmo bov on your GTI then you are increasing the sound output of your car above the ADR compliance level... Thus you are breaking the law.
You can avoid this by having your car drive-by noise tested by a certified laboratory but it is very expensive...
BUT.... the odds of getting caught with an atmo bov in a euro car are minimal so don't worry about it... The worst the popo are going to do is say "take it off"
'06 Polo GTi - Candy White / Custom Leather / Looking for Dish!!!
Yeah but if they do pull you over, they will yellow sticker it which means that you'll have to take it over the pits and if you've ever done that before you know how excruciatingly painful it is! lol Trust me you don;t wanna take an already modified car over the pits as they'll pick it to pieces. They pinged me once for bubbled window tint and how many cars do you see going around with crappy tint? And mine wasn;t even that bad. Thats how picky they are, perhaps its just the WA plod but yeah It's a risk.
Actually in 20 years of driving I have never heard a BOV on a car. Always here the farting exhuast kids put on their Rex's and Lancers but never have I heard a BOV which I find quite odd.
BUT each to their own I guess and thats the reason we luv playing around with these things.

been caught 3 times and told to keep the volume down unique on a euro car
