Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • my Polo GTI research

Hi, i'm planning to get a polo GTI as my next car. i test drove the gti a few months back and i really liked it! good size (for my use anyway), price, power and looks!
i'm hoping to get some questions answered here from other owners if you guys dont mind.

    1. what's the actual fuel consumption of the car? i know from the specs sheet it says combined of 7.9l/100km but that can always be different from real life figures.
    2. do you guys know how much service costs are for the gti? and the service intervals? (10k, 30k, 50k etc)

thanks and hope you guys can help.
    cheers

Hi Voltswagen, Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here. I am sure gtigrl and Pologti will answer your questions though niether have been for their services yet. I think the first sevice locally is 15,000 kms. My GTI golf was 7,500 kms but others that come by are down for 15,000.
I don't think that they change your oil till 15,000. Charge heaps too, but don't let that put you off the car. They are fab, especially with a bit of tuning! Cheer, and welcome once again, Andrew

Yup service is at 15k and I get average 480km per tank so far on 98 octane with APR and 480km per tank on 95 octane without APR. I am sure there are a few more k's in the tank but I have had so much fun since buying it that driving it like a granny to get good k's is a bit hard.
Oh and did I say I lurve my car .... cos I do ... alot

NO! We would never have guessed! The consumption improves as you roll on the Kms, so does the performance.

Ok ok I get it enough with the I love my car. Good to hear about the k's though because I did think I would be getting slightly better k's out of it but I am still pretty happy.
As far as the interior finish all of that has impressed me and I did drive quite a few other cars like the Purgeot GTI, Audi A3, Citroen C2 VTR but the dub seemed to have everything in a great little package... AND the ONLY one with a full spare! No space saver or 2 can of air like the Purgeot. Spoke to a guy not long after buying the dub and he had gone the pug option and had a flat - had to wait 4 hours for the road side assist because his cans of air didn't work.

                  thanks for the replies!
480 on a tank is pretty good, considering the power... btw, is that highway or city ks?

I laughed so hard when I saw that because I was actually going to say 1.8 and now I am feeling somewhat blonde
