Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Question 4 polo gti running&maintaining cost?

    Hello everyone:

I'm new here and i really like the polo gti. but the problem is i'm little bit worry about the running&maintaining cost could be high 4 the car. so i really grateful if someone could share some ideas about that? thx!!!!!

OK ... I've had mine for the better part of 3 years now and, apart from the mods I've put on, it's not more expensive than the last new car I owned for 8 years (Toyota Corolla). It's actually lighter on fuel when cruising in the country ... but a little heavier on juice around town ('cos I tend to use the power to ensure I get the lane I want at the lights).

So ... gas in cruise mode in the country 6.5 -> 7.0 litres / 100 kilometers. Around town ... that gets to upwards of 8.5 -> 10.00 depending on how heavy my right foot is.

Wouldn't change it for any other car (except if I could afford a Lambo or Audi R).

By the way ... welcome to the forum ... help yourself to the readily available info ... and join in the cruises and get-togethers (they're fun). Cheers,

    Dave

      welcome to the forum...

can highly recommend a polo gti. we have had ours for nearly 2 years. had no issues with it reliability wise...
servicing costs vary depending upon where you go/ where you live etc..
had our 15k service done for $225 and 30k service for just over $300 from memory... not at a dealer but a volkswagen/Audi specialist that i have been going to for years.
our running costs are similar to above ^^^^
approx 7-7.5L/100k's on average .. more if you like to plant the foot.

Dealer wise you are looking $300 minor service, $600 major.

Maybe 50-75% of that if you go to a vw specialist or euro specialist. The dealers don't do anything special, they can just fix warranty issues at the same time if you have any.
