HID help!

I know most ppl against HID on our car, but i got one for cheap.
thought i will give it a try.

anyway, my question is, once i pull out the standard bulb off the holder.
does anyone know which side of the holder is +, which side is -?

and second question, has any one installed HID yet?
and how do you fixed the bulb? I know there is a metal piece that u pull off the holder which can hold the HID bulb in place. but i couldnt fit the metal piece onto the HID bulb coz of the bundle of cables attached with the bulb..

sound like a silly questions...anyone hav experience?

a pod filter is illegal, your diverter valve is illegal if its not plumback, your wheels, your exhaust. the list continues.

if you intend to get hid's make sure not over 6000k or they will be very blue, too bright and you will get done for them. 4350-6000k is prob my recommendation! .. i have 6000k's in mine and never had an issue in the past almost 3 years with my golf.

most kits are from china, however you want one with a german ballast and you'll be fine. the kits i get in i have sold over 30 to date and ive only had 2 problems (1 bad contact and 2 water inside headlight). the kits i get take about 1-1.5hrs to install

so i dont know what matt p is talking about .. everyone has own experiences but!

put it simply, a pod filter wont shine in the eyes of oncoming traffic.

If you want them, spend the money to retrofit all the necessary safety systems including washers etc.. and have it engineered.

pst up pics and im sure we can all help you get through it.. its fairly easy, as i said most kits are 1-2 hours to install for a first timer.. dont rush, take your time!

the HID bulb should be the same fitment as your h7 bulb (if not u have problems). it will sit in there fine and the standard bulb metal/clip thingy will go over and hold it in like the oem bulbs used. most kits will req u to drill a 22-28mm hole in the back of the headlight cover to feed the cables through with a plug/sealer attached to the loom going into headlight

as i said, if u get stuck just shoot pics up

i got pretty much everything work out.
the metal'clip thingy wont fit thru coz of the bundle of cables afttached to the HID bulb.
im gonna cut the cables amd fit the holder thru or cut the holder and saw it up.

will post pic up when i get it done.

What ever you do... do not cut the cable between the globe & ballast ( a few thousands volt going through them) big chance to fry a few thing if short circuit. Try spread the clip in stead. All so the ballast need a good place to sit secure.

A good quality kit should have plugs to detach globe & ballast, disconnect them and feed the plugs through clips instead. After that slice the rubber cover half way and slide the wires thought, glue the cuts after done (seal water out). Mine ballast sit behind the bumper bar on the support bar (all hidden). After all work done, please bring to and mechanic with RWC license and get your head lights re-aim.

thanks for the advice. but I already cut the wires which attached to the globe.

i did think abt the hi voltage feeding thru the wires, but i sealed it as good as it can be. so far no problem!
