  • Gum on carpet! :(

Argh! I gave my mate a lift today, and she returned the favour by putting gum on my carpet (it was stuck to her shoe). Anyway, now i'm stuck with a rather large piece of chewing gum stuck to my carpet, not even the mat. I tried picking it out, only tiny bits came out, attatched to a whole lotta carpet... Have you guys got any tips in getting it out? Mumma's magic fix perhaps?

Try citronella oil, or Tea Tree Oil. I have used Tea Tree oil to get gum out of clothes.

I used some eucalyptus oil last time. Works great - dilute the oil and soak a little bit into a piece of cloth and wipe away. Just be careful not to over use it, or else you'll get headaches from the fumes. Plus it leaves a nice smell in the car.

I am assuming products that contain orange/citrus oils will do the same thing.

May i suggest you have a look in your owners manual. There are usually cleaning tips in there.

You can get something called "Gum (or Goo) Remover" from the supermarket cleaning section. It basically contains orange oil but it works just like the label says.

Some other good ideas here as well, nice one.
