Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Brake pedal feel

I think Eddy's brace used the base flange of an old engine mount. The bracket comes up off that and extends to the actual cylinder stopper. The short tab coming off the left of the bracket attaches to the strut tower and is through bolted into it I assume to stop any lateral walk of the bracket. Really the forces are straight off the tip of the cylinder down into the engine mount though.

Can't speak for Polo's but the brake master cylinder stopper on the Skyline makes a noticeable difference, it mounts to the strut brace bracket on the RHS strut tower. So does strengthening the pedal assembly, it flexes like crazy. I broke the welds on the clutch pedal bracketry at a Bathurst hillclimb, used a packet of cable ties to get it working for the rest of the event. Then welded it up and added gussets, which also made the brake pedal firmer.
Cheers

from what I can tell this is our master cyl:
Attention Required! | Cloudflare
its 20.64mm
This is a Bora V5 2.3's:
Attention Required! | Cloudflare
its 23.81mm
Go into each link, click the first example you see and do the 360 rotate function on the product pic. Tell me they are not the same bolt pattern. Could be the one.

EDIT! I think you're spot on Sam. I had it in my head that the ports on our MC come out towards the passenger side, but they don't, they need to clear the engine so come out towards the strut tower. I think we're on a winner, need to see what sort of reservoid they have and if the seals are different
I got a mate to stamp on the brake pedal while I looked at the MC and I reckon it moved about 3mm - it was very noticeable. I'm going to have a look at pulling the engine mount out and making a brace today
Hayden, what car was that in? what bore MC did you swap to and from?Last edited by simon k; 04-04-2021, 02:38 PM.

From that I would think the standard booster is to big/provides to much assistance.

looks very similar... https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/233244330019?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
makes me wonder about jumping right up to a 26mm MC - what did that come off Hayden?
do you have any old stuff laying around?

Yeah I'm not sure on how much displacement change you need to get a certain change in feel at the pedal. It could be that a jump from 20.64 all the way up to 26mm is what would give a result, and a swap to the Boras isnt far enough. dunno.
I'm just going to egg you on Simon so that you can be the guinea pig. I'll text you some pics of the master cyl brace installed.
