Got them in now, ..nice improvement. However, unlike the torque arm mount, the front wishbone bushes involve a fair bit of work to replace, anywhere between 2-4hrs. Depending on what a mechanic or suspension specialist charges per hour, this can add up.
Edit: you'll also need a wheel allignment too. Best approach is to do these bushes when upgrading your suspension to keep labour and other costs down.Last edited by GT3; 30-09-2008, 06:37 PM.

Good to hear you got them done mate, and yeah they are a tuff thing to fit.and without doubt you need a wheel alignment afterwards and like you say unlike the dogbone you are upsetting the suspension, so alignment a must

I just got a phone call from a mechanic that the rear part (seat) is a little shorter than the original (depth i think is what he is talking about)
Is this okay?? I just told them to go ahead (they were worried it's a wrong part).
Fronts fitted fine, but worried that back part apparently doesn't have same height as the originals.
Hope this is all fine. (apparently approx 1cm short)
Let me know!!!06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

The Seat bush is marginally shorter but is fine. They are interference fit and are going nowhere, i know this as i my arms are turning into guns fitting themand busted a VERY strong high tensile threaded section of my bush tool doing the latest ones, new stronger tool on the way. I definately prefer doing them the way i have posted than stripping all of the console out
Superb bushes compared to the voided ones for sure. Cleaning the console and lubricant is they key cant stress that one enough

thanks jmac. So it being short of around 1cm should be okay in terms of force being applied. I almost rang u from nz.. Apart from bushes the spacers are only there to help to get it out right?
Jmac any other tips? Just remove and replace?06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.

Bit more to it mate. Remove the ball joint bolts x 3 and the main 18mm bolt for the wishbone. Twist the wishbone out of the rear bush. Like my post says cut the shoulders off the front bush and press them out. They are a joy to do. Now the rears CLEAN the housing and any dags off the new bush. Very important that you install the bush with the hex flats at 12 0clock/6oclock!!!!!!!!In actual fact there is a small nipple on the housing as a guide. very carefully cut through the voided section of the bush and fold the bush in on itself being careful not to score the housing whilst doing so. Then with a void bush tool and spacers draw them in with some effort. Ok when they are in the next task is to fit the wishbone to the housing. You must get yourself a large ratchet strap and wrap it around the wishbone at the front and find a hook point at the rear of the housing and ratchet the wishbone into the new bush using lubricant along the way and you are done , torque up the bolts and book yourself in for a wheel alignment.
Cheers
