  • Timbo -> re: REVO tune settings

    Hi Timbo,

just wanted to let you know, finally had a chance to get my very helpful REVO manager to fine tune my car a little further.

Now the tune has settings of
    Boost 7
    Timing 5
    Fuel 6

Was previously when stock REVO tune
    It's 6, 3, 3.

    For past 6 months, it was 6, 5, 6.

Today, we checked all fault codes with VAG COM, and I had my airconditioning flap not working code and that was it. That includes one track day of driving and using 98 fuel at all times. My boost peaks around 22 for a brief moment, and goes down to 19.

Now it's boost 7, and tested, all VAG COM figures are good according to my manager. Did some runs on the road using all gears with all full throttle.

Peak boosts briefly to 24, and down to 21-22.

The car now can wheel spin in 3rd at times, and feels stronger throughout.

I was wondering what sort of settings you were running on.

    06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

Well if it was info, seems more like a question to me. Info would show what the numbers mean etc.

          Whatever

I forgot about using the PM function. What's the big fuss??
Timbo has provided me information on cars with high boosts - causing intercooler tubings to come off especially during track days. It's located behind the driver's side fog light, and made of spring clamp, but the screw type.

So here is the information. Hope it's useful for some. I think the above settings for REVO are useful enough for people who has REVOed their car and still running on 6-3-3 setting.

It averages around 16psi through the range, with a peak of 18. That's on a dyno run, but it may well spike higher on road.

                    Hey guys,

Is this a factory backed update, like a REVO version 2 or something? Or did you just get a custom tune by your mechanic?

Just interested as i have the REVO tune aswell, and would love to update with any improved software settings.

With the 3inch dump pipe ive had fitted since the tune, an update would be perfect.

                    Cheers.

Timbo would be the man to talk to. I need to reply to his PM. He seems to know what he is talking about very well.

This is all stage 1 we are talking about. On road, my boost keeps at 20psi. Pulls like a train after moving from boost 6 to boost 7.

Just gotta figure out a way to keep the pipe all attached without falling off.

I need to reply to Timbo's pm.

Certainly explains why REVO tunes get such high peak and dyno numbers.

Has anyone with a REVO tune had an engine failure and/or turbo failure?

i remember Guy saying any 20+psi of boost will prematurely wear out a turbo (on a k03 or k03s)

and that 17psi is at the very top of a k03 compressor map

Yeah I remember reading that too. I also remember reading that the APR v2 file spikes at over 20psi.(with mods)
