Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Rear end sway bar for polo

Does the whiteline polo gti sway bar fit a TDi? And would teflon be suitable for bushes?

don't quote me on this but I think all 9N series Polos have exactly the same major suspension components (especially big parts like the rear torsion beam) and the only differences is in the specs of the shocks and spring rates/ride height etc.

So yes if you have a 9N it would fit.

Make sure those guys deliver the right parts though, Whiteline gave me the wrong end links but were quick to apologise and send out the correct parts.

Can't help you on teflon, the only thing teflon that I have is a frying pan and the bullets I use while on a job...

FWIW I only know of rubber bushes - the performance stuff is usually polyurethane which is what whiteline includes in the kit.

Yeah and fellas make sure you periodically rubber grease the bushes, ive had a couple come through that have serious rear end creaks as they were dry. Rubber grease and all sweet. I would probably do this 3 monthly.
                  Cheers

Any REPCO dealer I dare say. I got mine through Repco for $200. They just order it in.

Finally installed the RSB last night and the difference is very noticeable - same corners the front seems to bite harder and I must have carried more speed into the corners as there were more tyre chirps from the front and I've noticed the ESP light flickering more often.

Is overtightening the U-bolts (still by hand) going to be an issue? The bushes look a bit squashed.

Greasing every 3amonths is going to be a pain in the proverbial though if it means putting the car up on a ramp and undoing the clamps....

Really only need to grease them when they start to make noise (could be 6-months or more).

Yeah Dave i might have been a bit on the anal side there, but last 2 ive looked at have been bone dry and sounded like an old bed spring , so like you say Dave hear that bed spring noise that is time. I was just suggesting some preventative maintenance, so i agree with your 6 months mate
