Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Looks the goods. Being double din it should fit, although there is a slight difference in size between Jap 2Din and Euro 2Din. Re the maps, it's dependant if they are stored on internal memory or on a flash card. Internal memory would require the factory to load the maps.

Also what frequency are the tuner ranges (some countries not the same as Aus).
    Cheers,

    John

will have to find that out didn''t think to check that.

Use to work at Pioneer so might be able to get someone to reprogram it if it needs it but I think it comes on a memry card as the specs on the aus site say

      "The pre-installation of Whereis® V14 mapping on the 1GB fast-response flash memory"

I got my alpine unit from the states, and radio works here! Another thing you need to look at is getting a can-bus adapter to link your new stereo with the car plug..

The maps on the AVIC series are stored internally, but I believe the map updates (released yearly) are loaded onto the unit via the SD card slot.

I've actually reviewed the F900BT for work, I review consumer electronics for a living .

Overall, it's an excellent system and reasonable for the price.

              one guy said,

PIONEER WILL NOT SELL THE MAPS SEPERATELY.
<not sure if this 100% true, but if someone can verify this, let me know...

I was thinking of buying them from US, but then found out i can't get the maps, so im trying to find another way at the moment...

Thanks for the info Giallorosso, think I'll just have to make a call into Pinoneer and see if I can switch it over to english and aussie maps.
