Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Coming home function

    Hey guys,

i was just looking at NRMA's website... and found the gti has "coming home function"
The page you're looking for has been moved or no longer exists. Please try using our site search, quick links or navigation for assistance.

I've looked thru the manuals, and @ section 3.1 it says:

The vehicle lighting must have been on for the coming home function to be activated.

    - switch off the vehicle lighting.
    - switch off the ignition.
    - keep all doors closed.
    - Pull the headlights lever briefly to the steering wheel within a maximum of 2 minutes after you have switched off the vehicle lighting.
    - Open the driver door.

I followed them and nothing.... Im not exactly sure what they meant by "pull the headlights lever briefly to the steering wheel" do they mean the highbeams stalk?

    anyone...?

I've got a feeling it's one of those features that we miss out on. I've been trying to get this to work ever since I got my car -- All I've managed to do so far is piss off my neighbours by high beaming their lounge room.

Mum has an Eos and the headlight switch has an "Auto" setting. When it's dark, the lights come on. They also stay on for 10 seconds when you turn off the car, get out and lock the door. When it's in the "O" position, it doesn't work. I've got a feeling it has something to do with our lack of an "Auto" setting or something.

Either way, it doesn't work. At least, not for me.

Maybe cause they get their information from either the user manual or from an overseas model that has the function.

our jetta has the auto function on the light switch but i dont think this affects the "coming home function" as it is set using the MFD.
when set it will operate the lights when you lock or unlock the doors for about 10 seconds.

Ahhhh you youngsters and your coming homes, ipod adapters and whatnot - I'm still coming to terms with the sheer luxury of non-manual windows, button pushing to unlock doors, doors that lock themselves at 15kmh and digital things on the dash that tell you your fuel consumption!

                            lol

Speaking of power windows... I had both half down yesterday and tried to close them. The left window had a brain fart stuttered and went down while the right was going up...?? lol.
