Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I lost one of mine in the first few weeks of ownership of the R. Because the wheels are 18s and specific to the model or some crap the caps are about $27 each and I had to wait a week for them to dig up the right part number and then ship them up from Sydney.
Apparently when you poke them in the plastic clips on the edge basically break off due to the ****ty quality of the plastic they use. Probably the crappiest part that VW actually make and they charge you a bomb for them.

It's called Silastic.Centre caps come loose [mainly on the front]when you track the car due to the heat build up and subsequent cool down.
A little bit of Silastic or similar on the edges seems to do the trick...
          Cheers

Update: I picked up my final two OEM caps today - they're $25 each Apparently at $17.50 I was quoted for the wrong part last time.
