  • Dodgy Tint??

Okay had my olds drop my car off to get tinted today, guy just rang me and said that it looks patch and thats because it's retaining alot of water, telling me it will gone in 2 weeks? should I be worried? is this normal anyone else had this? had 3 other cars tinted before in other places and never had this.

    seriously this car is cursed.

its normal for there to be lots of water bubbles behind the tint. leave it in the sun for a week and its usually fine. Has been the case on every car that ive had tinted before

Generally it only takes a couple of days for the water to evaporate. If they're telling you 2 weeks IMO i'd be a little worried about it.

evaporation requires warmth. We are a bit short on that here in melb at the minute
Perhaps thats why they quote it taking a little longer. I know at work i always quote longer than it will take to do something cos otherwise people ring you every 5 minutes.

Id start worrying when u get to 2 weeks and it still doesnt look right. Not worry for the two weeks leading up to it

yeah thats odd mate. i had my drivers side front window tinted on saturday morning and the guy just told me not to wind it down for 24hrs, after that he said it would be fine (which it is). i didn't get any bubbles or anything (as tim said).....it looked perfect as soon as he finished scraping the water and air out from behind the film. i don't know how there could possibly be bubbles or water when they have to do this during installation...??

my mate finished up working at Mastertint a few weeks ago and he always told his customers to leave the car window up for 48hrs to dry.....never any longer than that....it doesn't need it apparently.

              Cheers,
              Rhys

would it be more obvious because its 20%?

damn it hope it gets sunny soon then.

he said take it back in if its not alright by then, wasn't really worried except he sounded really nervous on the phone... then again if my mother dealt with him she probably tried to rip him a new one hell has no fury like a little latino/italian woman thats not satisfied with the service.

got mine tinted by the best bloke in town and it took 2 weeks for the bubbles to go away. its normal. you wont even notice them unless you're looking for them anyway.

haven't even seen it yet, I'm guessing he couldn't explain it to my olds without them arching up, already had them ringing me about the time it took to do as there En-trail only took 2 hours and took the guy around 4 to do my pogo (cos of the tricky back window), went with Dandenong Tint-a-Car as Ferntree where the En-trail got done wouldn't do darker than legal on a street car, least thats what they told me over the phone.

aah i got my mk5 done at dandy tintacar too.
It also took longer than expected due to the curvature of the rear window. They rang me mid way through the day telling that it will be a couple hours late. I just told them to take their time on it though.
When i picked it up it looked like arse. But yeah after a few days it started to look a lot better. This was in summer though

Said it will look worse tomorrow then get better after that.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see, I guess it will be fine just have to be patient.

Thanks for all the info people i can rest easy for at least the next couple of weeks.

Curing takes between 7-30 days. in winter usually they take a little bit longer than in summer/warm condition. (i got my tinting from the dealer last week, the day the car arrived, now its perfect, was bubbling after 2 days)

                            just enjoy! with bubbles!
