A definitive answer? No. Just like they couldn't actually tell me how much i was speeding by when i got done. "More than 90" was the answer. Again, no actual numbers were proven.
yeh its bull crap that they pull out of their @rse what they can do...

To be done for speeding they need proof. They'd just say dangerous driving or something cos there can't be evidence other than their word for that.

yeh its completely ridiculous. they should have to give evidence before they can give you a ticket.

I was charged with Driving in a Manner Dangerous, speeding, and participating in a race of speed.

I got off the Manner Dangerous charge after nearly three years in court and a $5000 legal bill.

The whole police report was an absolute fabrication. Then they edited the whole thing to include extra cars, more people, all sorts. Again, without any detail of these...

Needless to say, i'm pretty selective about my 'spirited' drives these days.

Yeah, the problem is they get all personal if you know the law and say "i wasn't speeding, show me the radar reading"... they come back with "it was dangerous" for which there is no answer to.

The law is stupid, so tough on trivial things but so lenient on the stuff that matters (murder etc).

It also doesn't help that every cop I've come across was a douchebag. Therefore, I hypothesise that all are douchebags.

That's where you need to stay quiet, let them write their report thinking you'll admit speeding and then hit them before they can change their story.

you think cops these days are bad? Ask the more elderley members of this fine board what cops were like in the 70's & 80's

GF rarely ever books anyone for anything - doesn't believe in it - she will pull them over and tell them exactly what they were doing wrong - and if they b******t or have an attitude or get smart then the lecture becomes sterner - keep going and the ticket book comes out.

She has been with a traffc cop on radar duty who will only book you if you are doing 76+ in a 60 zone. The camera van that got me this week is set to go off at 70 in a 60 zone. That's pretty fair in anyone's book.

Most general duty cops can't be bothered booking people - it's just extra work - they are far more occupied and worried about dealing with drunks, domestic violence, the streets full of meth heads and getting attacked.

Traffic cops are a different matter - they are out to get you.

Most of my points were lost for stupid stuff (u-turn...? do something useful douchebag policemen) almost 3 years ago.

I'd take the 3 month suspension, the 2 points is WAY too hard.
damn. sorry to hear that. what do you reckon would happen if you got caught doing 176km/h in a hundred zone? any ideas? loss of licence/ jail time?

I think that would probably qualify you for a "Throw the book at you" session ... anything goes: Dangerous Driving, Endangering the lives of both yourself and the public in general, massive speeding fine, definite disqualification (I'd only be guessing here ... but 5 years sounds about what I've heard for similar).

silly question from me really, seeing as when its that much over then even a moron like me can guess that it's carte blanche as far as the law goes.

Immediate loss of license when 40km/h+ over speed limit.

The faster it gets, the more likely they'll add other stuff for their own amusement.
