  • programmable automatic locking

    Hey all,

I was looking through the polo spec sheet, and i noticed under the safety section, there is a line under locking that says the polo has automatic locking after takeoff (programmable)

I looked through the whole manual twice and couldnt find anything that mentioned this.

Has anyone gotten this to work?

    Thanks

Pretty sure it's just a VAGCOM setting? You can get a dealer to turn it on for you. I have my doors lock at 20km/h

Spot on there Cygnus, one of the many great things that VAGCOM can do. along with alarm activation/deactivation beeping (apparently may too loud to have on), and the remote one press unlock all doors (instead of having to press it twice to get everything open).

And VW are very Happy to charge an arm and a leg to change it.
Back in 2005 when i first got my polo i asked about 1 week after buying it to have all the doors unlocked with the 1st press, they then said it would cost $50 said no thanks and never asked again.
Should be free i would have thought to set things when u 1st get the car to personal pref.

I'm sure there are non-VW employees over there who would help you out with Vagcom ... right, Lads?

Before delivery the Salesman shou.d be asking the right questions about what way you would like that sort of thing configured anlong with explaining the special features as they should have the product knowledge, as they are selling you the car!! Trouble is my friend they simply dont know, those days are gone. Changing the settings take a matter of minutes.

At my 15,000 service I had Highway VW change to the one click opens all doors.

And Jimmy (Jmac) did the auto door lock at 15kmh at my 30,000 service - which, for other S.E Qld owners, was done beautifully and for a fraction of what VW would charge.

What Peter said in regards to Jimmy.
I did the auto lock/beep thing myself with my V-Checker. A nice little aftermarket handheld VAG scanning tool.
Just be careful though. It's all very easy if you have instructions but then you start poking around looking at the descriptions for the different channels. Then you select channel 0 and it just says erased! No menu or description no nothing, just erased. Had to reprogram my remote central locking again. At least I didn't wipe the transponder in the key as well!
                      So yes be careful.

With my auto lock feature my passenger side door doesn't unlock when I take the key out like the drivers door does. Is this the same of everyone else?

Do both doors unlock when you press unlock once on the key?

I think it's the same setting.

I have to press unlock twice for both doors to unlock. At my next service I'll have it changed to both doors unlock on one button to see if both unlock when removing the key from the ignition.

Either one press or removing the key unlocks both doors on mine.
