yeh my TDI has stone chips everywhere, i just think that the Polo paint is soft (anyone else have this problem???)

yeh doesnt sound too good, definately get a full Mech inspection, but at least you have warrenty if anything does go ary.

good luck mate plenty of other ones out there to be had so dont rush into anything!

Well, it passed the mech inspection with no faults. I'm happy the knocking sound in the rear should be covered by warranty ... if I can't find it first.

So I've sealed the deal for a silver Aug 06 build MY07 Polo TDI with 69000kms on the clock, and 14 months of new car warranty left ... for $15500. Even given the condition of the paintwork, I think that's a pretty reasonable deal. Accessories include mud flaps, rubber mats, headlight protectors and a tow pack.

I pick the little dub up on Thursday, and it looks like I'll be giving the new family member some TLC on the weekend.

Thanks to everyone for your ideas/input. Now I've got two dubs, I'll have to post twice as often.

Haha, that's a Charade, though. But I will defend the GTVi

I upset a few people on the Suzuki forum (my daughter has a Swift S), when I pointed out that the Sirion GTVi makes 75kw from it's little 1.3 engine, and Suzuki needs 1.5 litres to do the same

Add to that the Sirion weighs 200kg less at 860kg and the little beastie is quite a nice little goer.....

But SWMBO is extremely fond of the Polo GTI, only problem is she can't drive a manual. If the Polo GTI was available with DSG I'd be under serious pressure to buy one, and if the diesel was available with DSG I'd be buying that (with the upgrade to sports seats).

The Golf is a bit too big for her liking, since she's a bit height challenged

Haha - I can imagine. One of my mates started redlinegti.com, and can just picture his reaction if a Suzuki was compared to a Daihatsu.

Yeah - to be fair to the little Charade, it's been a very reliable car. If it was a manual, it might be barely acceptable, but the 1.3i auto is a slug (on the hills especially). I won't even talk about how it runs with the A/C on.

$15500 for a tdi sounds like a bloody steal!!!

they are a good little car. sure, they're no wrx in terms of speed, but they do the job and i've found that my pog is ALWAYS there for me when i need it.

              go polo!!!!!!!

For the car specs I entered, it's what the Glass's guide quoted when I paid my $11 for a valuation certificate on the NRMA site.

Can't wait to get my hands on it and clean it up a little - it's a bit of a "diamond in the rough" at the moment. Has a near new set of Pirelli P6000's on it. Anybody running these?

(BTW thanks for your comments in this thread Buller_Scott)

                      ooooh chips......

i've convinced myself to be a good boy and not chip it for atleast another year (until its done the 30,000k), but my oh my am i keen to feel what golfman has experienced.

people on this forum have said countless times that chipping a car makes it "feel like you're driving a different car". i'm gonna get in on the action one day

and no worries, mr_walker. i cant speak highly enough of how pleased i am with my tdi pog.

Before the chip... springs & shocks, wheels & tyres. It needs those way more then it needs extra power!

can i just double check, your 9n 06-07 polo TDI's in Aus are 1.9TDI or are they the same 1.4TDI as here in NZ?

In NZ only a 1.4TDI is available.

When I brought my 9n polo in November 2006 there was only the 1.9 TDI available.

Funny you should mention this. I picked up the Polo today, and already have an option to buy a used set of GTI wheels, springs, shocks and front brakes.

What's the general opinion about fitting this gear to a TDI? Reckon it will improve the ride very much?

I'm a bit nervous about modding anything other than the wheels in the remaining warranty period.

                              Cheers,

                              Walker

Don't know about the TDi, but Celestine did this to his 1.6L (Match I think it is?).

                                PM him.
