I bought my Gates kit plus water pump, thermostat, air filter and cabin filter for about £150 from UK EBay seller doctor_car . No complaints here, although it's not doing much good sitting in a box on the garage floor...

I got my timing belt kit and water pump from: Sparesbox | Auto Parts, Car Care and 4x4 Accessories

I did the installation 2 weeks ago and it all fits well.

Just remember everything is the same as other 1.8T's but the Polo used a different water pump.

Is that a fact? I wish I'd known that before. Always thought the BJX was a bit of an oddball

                      No its not
The water pump is the same as all the other 1.8Ts , the belt is the same , the tensioner roller is the same as B6 A4 , the hydraulic tensioner is unique to the Polo 1.8T .
