No specific experience - I was told to avoid them though by an ex-service tech of theirs though and a friend of mine with a Toureg has had poor service too with a warranty claim.

Hey Noone.Originally posted by noone View PostThe gravely sound on startup seems to job be the choke (assuming it goes away around 30sec-1min after startup).
I found new engine oil made the initial choke noise improve (less difference).
yes it does actually go away after 30 sec/1 minute.... so maybe it is the choke?? (And this is with new oil too)

i think the noise you guys are trying to refer to is your secondary air pump, sounds like a hairdryer for a but and can cause a bit of a vib too. Sounds normal to me, if your turbo bolts were loose you would know and its noisy all of the time, on spool up its terrible.
cheers

the repairs..
Hi guys.
Well just got back from Solitaire motors (Adelaide).
Annoyingly, my gearbox crunches have vanished, and yes - they couldnt fault it!
However, this is what they did do (under warranty)
Gearbox:
Drained and replaced with new (mineral-based) oil.
Turbo bolts:
Were a little loose (didnt say by how much) and have tightened them. As well as inspected and tightened exhaust manifold...
So there you go...
I'll keep an eye on the gearbox more than anything.
But to sum up on the dealership service: couldnt fault it (even gave me a new Polo "Pacific" for loan car for the day - no questions asked)
Cheers,

So its booked in next monday at Solitaire (SA dealer). This is going to be my first main issue with the car. It will be interesting to see how they react or deny the gearbox issue thing.
Has anyone else here in SA had experiences with Solitaire - and in particular - these gearbox isses, in Adelaide before?
I'll let you know how it pans out.
PS: i'm also getting them to check for loose turbo bolts too... car sounds a bit like a diesel truck, when starting..
