Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • list of fusible links? (ABS and traction control lights)

so, registered and driving it around. My mate lives on a dirt road and I went past his house to see if he was home, played around with the brakes on the dirt as I usually do.

ABS and Traction control lights came on with the handbrake warning light flashing and 3 beeps, google & search on here says look at the fusible links on top of the battery, and sure enough one of them has popped. If the fusible link isn't the cause, then apparently it's likely to be a stone caught in one of the sensors

It's the 4th from the left when looking at it from the front of the car, but the glovebox manual doesn't say what they're for...

I'll stick a feeler gauge under this one and see if the lights go off, but does anyone have a list?

yes, this confirms that fusible link 4, with the red & green wire and 40A fusible link is for the ABS... but I assume the lights won't go off (& unit start working again) until the faults are cleared
