  • A trip to the Dealer

The yellow "engine" light on the dash came on recently. Was a bit worried at first, but read the manual and it suggested an exhaust quality issue, so I relaxed a bit and booked it in a for a week or so later (today). Told the dealer over the phone it was the engine symbol and he said "the EPC light" and I said no, the engine symbol, the one the manual says is for exhaust gases. He asked for my rego, said you have not been here before, I say, yes I have, I bought the car there and you serviced it three months ago.

I remembered to change the APR setting back to normal and dropped it off this morning. They said to me "so you have a problem with the EPC light?". I said no, the engine symbol.... They said, oh...while it is here we have a recall notice that needs to be performed. I ask what is it? they say a software upgrade. Worried about losing the APR software and having to get it reflashed, I am concerned all day.....

Arrived at the dealer and was told the car was ready, they'll just go get it. My phone rings and it's the dealer asking when I will be picking up the car. The guy comes back and said, "split hose, all fixed now. And we did the recall, it was the gearbox oil". I told them they changed the gearbox oil three months ago when theye serviced it. Oh no, they said, this is different oil again.

I got in the car, reset the APR settings, still there, the engine light is gone, very relieved and head home.

Turned out just as I expected

Sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

LOL. The exact same thing happened to me. The dealer kept calling the light a EPC light, when it was the exhaust warning light. Then, I had to look at the service sheet to see there was a recall being performed, and when I asked them what the recall was about, they said ECU reflash when it was really gearbox oil.

Me thinks the dealer doesn't want me to know the gearbox oil is stuffed incase the box ****s itself not long after warranty period etc
