Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

yep I'd get onto Gav about a matched tune. I ran a 3in downpipe on a stage 1 tune. First up, the engine massively overboosted and I mean off the end of the 30psi boost gauge in the blink of an eye, not even remotely possible to manage by driving around the problem. The only solution for that is to run a boost control solenoid (N75) parallel bypass to bleed off the overboost but it means cutting into your boost control plumbing and finding/fitting the correct pneumatic hardware and setting it up. Secondly it wont be long before you get the cat code Gav mentioned. What worked for me was a right angled standoff for the second 02 sensor. I had a 200 cell and didn't get the code again after that.
I engineered some ways around the fact that the software didn't match the hardware but in all honesty just get the appropriate tune. I have all those bits and pieces on hand so it was easy for me to do and I didn't mind the challenge but if you don't then it'll be a headache.

I would recommend it. Gav did the stage 2 (and 1) tune on my Polo and I still love jumping in and driving it with 170,000 k’s on it. My wife’s friend drove it the other day and she asked me if I wanted to sell it.

2011 Skoda Octavia Scout now with Underground Performance tune
2010 Jetta 125 tdi dsg for the misses - Impressed
2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it
