Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Bluetooth Kit

    Hi all,

My 6R GTI has a bluetooth kit installed simular to the below image but installed on the dash near the drivers seat window:

Mine keeps reseting randomly when I pair my Samsung Galaxy S6 to it, has anyone else experienced this?

I have tried reseting it, readding the device, etc but it doesn't seem to work.

It seems totally unnecessary in the 6R. I just pair with the head unit.

But you can't actually unplug it and keep it in the glovebox.

I don't actually have a bluetooth radio system, this is something that was added before I owned the car so that it could support bluetooth.

This image is more acurate to what I have installed:

I actually found out why it was doing it after doing some more research. If your contacts has a "#" section or contacts which contain @ in the contact name then it will fail to download the contact list and then reset itself. After removing these it started to work properly and didn't reset.
