Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi,

I've had the APR Stage 1 tune on my 2015 Polo GTI (manual) for a couple of week now. Very happy with the performance gains but have found that unless I take the traction control/ESP off I can't get power down in second gear even when already rolling at a reasonable speed.

I understand it will jump in to stop the wheels losing traction but this seems to be preventing torque reaching the front wheels before it can happen.

If anyone can explain how the system works I'd be interested to learn as I intend to make it produce more power in the near future.

    Cheers

Have you done the DSG tune?
I found that completely changed the drivability.

Welcome to the forum! I can't answer your question but as simple as it sounds if you let the front tyres down a bit it will help a lot with traction. I run 28psi cold in my fronts with a 'tune'.

Thanks for the tip, I'll def give that a go - I'm still running the stock conti premium contact 2's that came from the dealer which might not help either.
