Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,

I can't seem to get a definitive "no" on this question, so until then I shall persist until someone with more knowledge on this issue can tell me it's impossible!

Ok, so I have a MY15 6C 81TSI Comfortline. Disappointingly, the Polo misses out on power fold mirrors which are available on other European, Korean and Japanese small cars nowadays. I'm always folding my mirrors in manually, it's not a major problem, but I find it to be a cool feature and also a practical one. Can anybody give me some direction on whether these could be fitted? I'm in Adelaide, and provided it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, would be interested in pursuing any options I have.

I suspect the answer may be "no" but would like to ask anyway.

    Thank you.

You have the smallest car in the fleet... why would you need the folding mirrors?

I looked into the cost though, it's about $1000 from Europe, then you have to install them yourself.

I personally think its a wank unless you have a 4wd or larger sedan. Plus they make the car look ugly when folded in anyway.

Don't worry about why I need them - I'm just looking for a guide on how to fit them to the 6C and I'll make up my own mind.

How do you even fold the mirrors manually in the MY15?

You just grab them and fold them. Like every VW I can think of since the MK1 golf of 1980

Heard it's pricey to retro fit. Optioned them on my 6c Gti as it was cheap and the roads can be quite narrow in the uk and I'd like to still have mirrors when I return to my car.

my mk1 Golf of 1977 didn't have it - in fact it only had 1 external mirror that could be folded but then needed repositioning every time
