  • Front wheel bearing hub replacement

    Hi.

I have to replace my front hub / bearings. I have the new parts, question is do I need any special tools to get the job done.

I guess some sort of puller might've required. I do have some pullers for other vehicles so they might do they job.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Kim.

Without seeing it, I can't give you direct advice.

But in the past, I used to knock old ones out with a punch or similarly sized cones. Tap the inner race or ring.

New ones I used to use a hydraulic press.

I'm surprised a car of that age requires new bearings!

Yea so am I. We took it to VW to diagnose the problem and they said it was the bearing. Tried to get them replace out of warranty but they would not agree. N
