Anybody knows what are the screws used to tighten? What happens when it's loose? Click image for larger version

Looks just like your sway bar D-bush bracket mounting to the subframe

Will it cause a steering vibration at high speed cruising on the highway? Tried new tyres, new wheels, new wheel bearings and hub, new brakes and countless balancing including road force but nothing helps

          It shouldn't.
Are you implying though that they are currently loose? If they are, definitely try tightening them up and giving that a go. Otherwise I'd say tyres would be the issue but you've already tried a new set.
          Tyre pressures are correct?

Yes they are. I've since tighten them up but have yet to test if it solved the issue. Tyres are brand new re003. Have checked tyre pressure and it's all at 34 cold.

Ok. Ours had a fairly significant steering wobble at highway speeds that was only fixed by new front tyres (balanced) and a front-end alignment (which was off as the inner shoulders of the old tyres wore very very quickly). Since the tyres, balance and alignment it's been silky smooth in the same conditions.
Give it a go with the bolts tightened and get back to us with the results.

What model is this for? I'm assuming by you trying to guess the solution that it's beyond warranty.

Checked Axle for even slight deformations? Seals? How about warped brakes? They can deform when placed through extreme temperature drops such as a big puddle.

The OP said they replaced the brakes with no change.

                    My bad,

I was replying whilst I was in queue at Noodle Box. Sorry

I was half wrong actually. Oops.
They didn't mention the year, but we're assuming here it's out of warranty. They did, however replace the brakes with no change.
Inspecting axles seems like a good way to go if tightening the bolts doesn't fix it.

                        Hi all,

Thanks for the replies and the help. The slight "shimming" of the wheel is now gone! I honestly find it hard to believe that 2 bolts can make such a difference. Extremely happy now as i've been living with a shimming steering wheel for the last 6 months and it only happens when i'm cruising on the highway above 90km/h. When i do a short burst to 100km/h, the vibration is not there.

Glad that its solved now! Loving my Polo all over again.

Oh and yes the car is now out of warranty - bought it in 2011.
