Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Process to flush coolant?

My car has cracked the 100k mark so I am doing a major service on it (oil, filter, fuel filter, pollen filter, brake fluid flush, clutch flush and coolant flush)

The ELSAWIN procedure to change the coolant is to undo the radiator hoses and then using VAS, set the car to coolant filling mode (or words to that effect). I have filled up the expansion bottle with what I think is less coolant than i drained so i am wondering what this coolant fill mode is and VAGCOM does not make reference to it.

Has anyone has a similar experience? I'll just keep an eye on the coolant level in the expansion bottle and top up as necessary but still curious as dropping 2 litres and filling up with 1 doesn't go
My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

I do t believe there's anything fancy on these.

The procedure is pretty straightforward. Dump the coolant, flush, and refill pretty much.
