MY15 Polo GTI Mirrorlink

Hi All,

There seems to be a real lack of information on this and just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this feature. I have a Polo GTI MY15 model and mirror link comes up and when I press the button it says it needs to be activated at the dealer.

I emailed VW and below is the response:

As your vehicle is a 2015 model, Mirror Link under smart link was not advertised and is not available in 2015 models.

The function was only advertised from 2016 and onwards.


Our Smartlink feature that includes Apple Car Play and Android functionality is only a factory option that unfortunately cannot be retro fitted to your vehicle.

As the feature is not sold separately for our market, there is no way to install it of your vehicle doesn’t already have it as an option.

Apologies this is not the answer you are seeking however we do hope you continue to enjoy your new Polo GTI.

It can be activated, but I think VW stopped marketing version 1 of mirror link (MY15) as it did not work with majority of the phones. Samsung phones don't work at all, the only phone I seen working is a Sony Z4 and the Z5 also doesn't work.

Same problems here in our MY16 Beetle - we were actually waiting on VW releasing the activation code, but it sounds like they might not :/
