  • What kind of spare wheel does your Comfortline have?

There seems to be some conflicting data about what spare wheel the Polo has.

    Reports state this;
All variants come with a full size steel spare wheel aside from the Comfortline Sport, where the same spare is limited to 80km/h due to the Sport’s larger alloys.
2014 VW Polo review | first drive: Car Reviews | CarsGuide

And the VW Specs also say "Spare wheel, full size steel"

But when I look in my boot I see an 80km/h restricted wheel. I have a standard Comfortline 2015.

Pic is from the web but I have the same yellow stickers on mine.

not sure why the one pictured has the speed restriction on it when it has a full size tyre from what I can see.

Maybe the web pic is where someone has fitted a normal tyre to a space saver rim

My 2014 Polo Comfortline has the 80km/h sticker on it, but the tyre is exactly the same as the ones on the alloy rims, Conti Premium Contact 2 185/60 R15. So this had me a bit confused also, but I obviously stuck to 80 for the few days when I had a screw in a tyre.

BTW, the automatic pressure detection thingy works great, there was a screw in the tyre but you would never know otherwise. Only after receiving the warning did I closely inspect the tyre to find it.

What kind of spare wheel does your Comfortline have?

The standard-fit tyres on the pre-facelift (before 2015) Polo comfortlines are 195/55/R15
All comfortlines have 185/60/R15 spare tyres and they will all have the 80km/h speed restriction label on them to account for larger alloys (from the Sport Pack, for example). If the spare is on the rear axle, you can probably safely drive at whichever speed you like. It's when the spare is on the driven axle (front) that there can be an issue due to the different wheel rotation speeds due to the slightly different tyre diameters, and in this case the safest option is to adhere to the 80km/h restriction so you don't destroy a differential.

Using a space saver on the front is insane. With space savers, you should always swap one of the rears to the front if you puncture the front.

Mine has 195/55/15 on mags and a 185/60/15 on a much narrower steel rim for the spare Hence the speed restriction I would think

The spare is actually 8mm more in diameter than the regular tyres.

With the extra luggage layer in the boot it would be hard to get a full width mag in there

I've got the exact same tyre as pictured on my Comfortline with sport pack.

I found a spare boavista rim on ebay for $50 and I managed to fit it in my boot for spare wheel purposes, can't fit the toolkit in though.
