  • Need help finding Polo part.

I accidentally broke off my fuel flap. $400 replacement dealer quote!!!!!

They said the art is $150 plus the extra is painting and fitting it!

Can anyone help me find this part number in WHITE? 6R0809857LGRU

I contacted a German wrecker who has them for sale for the Polo 6R but he says it won't fit on a 6C. Can anyone confirm this?

They don't come painted, in my experience no VAG part is supplied painted.

So is your partno confirmed as correct? Check here PartsBase.org - Catalogue of Auto Parts

It's hard work searching for a part if the number isn't quite right. You'll probably find that EGRU, FGRU & HGRU are all interchangeable.

I've found one from Germany that is already painted white & for a petrol tank. Bit it says its for the 6R. I asked the seller and he says its only 6R not 6C. I am sceptical as maybe he's just trying to be cautious in case it doesn't fit and I dont leave bad feedback.

To me it 'seems' like the 6R and 6C are the same... but what do I know .

Can anyone confirm if I order the one from Germany if it will fit?

The 6R and 6C filler flaps look identical in the repair manuals, the rear qtr panel hasn't changed from 6R to 6C, the sheet metal is all the same, why would they change the filler cap? VW don't really change stuff between models unless they need to, just look at the door handles. I sold one a few months ago for $80, there is no difference between petrol and diesel according to repair manuals, I'd say it's just the neck filler is different (which doesn't come off when you remove the filler flap assembly). Try and get one that is the right colour, if they have to be painted then it will be a PITA to do properly (eg. paint inside the flap and put required stickers back on). They are not really designed to come apart and it would be difficult to do a colour change. If you find one similar shade you could get away with just painting the outside to match. The only reason that people OS would claim its not for your car is maybe because the colour codes have changed, I thick there is a new blue's and white in the range (Gti white now has a pearl maybe?).

Thanks, I was suspecting that and not sure why the German seller said its for the 6R only, I suspect he was covering his base in case it doesnt fit. Going by the model of the item.

The car is standard-white, thank goodness, so finding one in white will be good as colour matching wont be too much of an issue. So glad I bought a white polo!

Fixed for free (so far so good).

My father brought over some sort of paste that sticks marble together and it seems to be holding.

Help. I need this again. The fix didn't work long term.

UPDATE: Its always the way isnt it. Cant find the darn thing, do a post and then on gumtree found someone wrecking a white Polo. Getting it from over east for $85 delivered. Hope it will work as mine is a 2015 facelift his is a 2014 pre-facelift.

UPDATE: Arrived and fitted. The pre and post facelift fuel flap are compatible.
