  • 2012 Volkswagen Polo GTI MY13

    Hey guys,

    I am a currant owner of a 2010 Golf GTI and I am considering an upgrade (?) to a Polo GTI.
    An upgrade as it is 2 years newer than mine, but also a downsize, which suits me just fine.
    It is also fitted with the DSG box, apposed to my full manual, but I see that as a plus. As long as it has been through that recall/service they required. It is a Dealer used car, and at a VW Dealer, unsure if it's the original shop as yet.
    Genuine 13,500k car compared to my 68,800k GTI.
    Only talked briefly with them this arvo, and they confirmed it is "modified". More output than my stock GTI Golf.
    Seriously contemplating a run down (10+ hours ) as I have time off from work until next Tuesday.
    Any advise prior regarding things to check-look out for, would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Greg

    Depending on 'mods' that are done to the car, there could be warranty implications. Just something to take note of. If I were you , I would buy a stock unit and then mod it the way I want

      Thanks mate.
      Yeah, I'm actually a little partial to the mods it has done. I always wanted to mod my Golf....just never seem to get around to it.
      This car (only viewing pics online mind you...) just looks "right" and looks so much like what I would do in any case.

      I've done a search on here, thinking it may be a "known" car, but lucked out there.
      I'd post a link, but don't want someone else walking in before me.

        As the previous comment said, I would check to see what kind of mods and to see whether it would affect your warranty. Sometimes people make certain mods without upgrading other parts, which means more problems for you in the future.

          Yeah, cheers mate.
          Waiting to hear back from them now. Emailed some quick pics of my trade (?) last night and asked if I could get a run down of mods.
          But I guess the question must be raised, why sell after modding it to how you like?

          As I said, if it was me doing it, this is probably pretty darn close to what I'd have done, engine mods unknown at this stage of course.
          This is the car, please excuse my colouring in skills...haven't painted since school.

            I'm 100% certain that is BLN355's gti. It was previously vinyl wrapped and he recently sold it.

            * APR Stage1 tune
            * Harding Performance CAI
            * KWV1 coilovers

              Cheers mate, thanks for the video link. Sure is a sweet ride, one I'd be happy to drive.

                    Noted, and input appreciated.
                    I think we have officially entered negotiations....I have asked for a better price, they have yet to respond.
                    Also sent them a heap of pics of my Golf to see if they can get near what I'd like...
                    I have a work buddy who is genuinely interested in mine, so that will probably net me more $$$
                    More bargaining power to me, fly down, do the deal, drive home.
