  • 2010 trendline - any issues to be aware of?

I've just put a holding deposit on 2010 Trendline.

This will be my 5th VW

1995 Golf, sold, (that one was a mistake)
2003 Golf, loved it, should have kept it but traded it for
2009 TDI Madam Jetta who's now done >104,000kms and is purrrrfect,
2009 TDI Polo driven by princess no1 and going strong

This latest one will be driven by princess no2 and is my first DSG. It's done only 35,000kms. It was subject to a recall for something.

I'll have it I inspected since it's overdue for service and just out of warranty but, from the experts, is there anything I should be aware of with this model?

    Many thanks
    Karen

As far as I know the engine is pretty much bullet proof. I think they had a service campaign to address difficult starting and idle stability in cold weather but that's about it.

Biggest concern would be the dry cluch DSG. The recall addresses the replacement of the mech unit but not the dual clutches which are the wear and tear component in these gearboxes - I would be checking for slipping, squeeking or shuddering on take off after a decent drive to see if they are ok.
