  • Oil for my Polo GTI 6R

Just hit 4000km mark and the orange oil light has come on.
Needing to know what oil anyone would recommend? Obviously the dealership/service centre recommends Castrol 5W-30 but wondering if anyone else uses/recommends anything else.

    TIA!

You'll get lots of different opinions. I've tried VW Long Life (rebranded Castrol) , Fuchs and Shell Helix Ultra Extra. The Shell lasts longest in my car.

See if the dealer will top up your car for free (check the thread on oil consumption)

Can the oil be poured directly into the engine after removing the engine oil cap? Reason I ask is because there seems to be a cover of some sort under the cap.

Shell Helix Ultra Extra is what I use. Easy to find at Supercheap as well.

The metal thing is a baffle. The oil will flow over it & into the right places.

My dealer has been using Mobil 1 5W-30 ESP Synthetic.

              Top up bottles are $13.50/L

Seriously man, please use search. With one of the top 5 topics in this section of the forum relating to oil consumption, there is already so much info on different oils people use (and across all sections of the forum) that you will find dozens of answers.

                Thread locked.
