  • A probable exercise in futility.

A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from the dealership where I bought my GTI trying to sell me another VW. Unfortunately this coincided with just after the third attempt to repair an engine issue which eventually looks like it was a dodgy wiring loom.
Oil usage hasn't been too bad but does require constant attention as it certainly uses much more oil than any other car I have owned over the past 39 or so years.
Now it looks like clutch issues developing as I am starting to get some shuddering on 2nd gear clutch engagements.
In my reply email, I told the sales manager I think it will be difficult for me to consider buying or recommending VAG cars from now on. Such a shame as I quite like the car.
I'm probably a bit luckier than others I have read about on this forum.
Will be interesting if they respond.

hello halfcoast, keep us posted on their response. Interested to see what they say or do to keep you in the VAG family. My GTI has just over 30k (MY12) and every couple of weeks, I can feel the shudder from 2nd to 3rd gear...when going around corner at slow speed. took it to the dealer and they couldn't replicate it but have done a reset on the gearbox. Will see how it goes.

Interesting, I got something similar 18 months after I bought my car. I explained that after the dodgy dealings of the sales person and sales manager that I would never buy a new VW ever again, especially one from Bayford VW. The funny thing is, the response I got was "yeah, I've been hearing that a lot...." From the sales person!!
