  • APR DSG Tune reviews?

    Hey guys,

So APR are doing a sale right now and it's 15% off and I'm thinking of whether or not it's worth it.

I've currently got some APR and HP stuff in the car (see my sig) and really enjoying it, any reviews or thoughts on the DSG tune?

I've got a APR/HP DSG tune on my Tig - different DSG gearbox but I think they get similar upgrades in terms of shift patterns etc.

I used to run in manual mode 90% of the time before the tune and now I just leave it in "D" 99% as it changes gears how I like it.

Two big things for me were kickdown under harder acceleration and reverting to 1st gear at low speed while in "D". "S" is still a bit manic for daily driving - you can feather it around but as soon as you git it a boot it will hold onto the gear for way too long around the city.

I didn't worry about changing the launch control RPM - works fine for me as-is.

Acid test = would I do it again? Yes, definitely. And I would probably not worry about installing a steering wheel with paddle shifters as I don't use them hardly at all anymore (probably wouldn't miss them if they were gone).

Now whether I would do it to a DQ200 on a Polo still under warranty is another question... but given that you're tuned and the warranty is shot then why not!!!

If you ever decide to go back to the standard steering wheel, I'm your man!!

I'll keep it in mind... Though I've sold my old wheel and airbag. And I'm also really happy with the flat bottom wheel. I just don't use the paddles much any more.

We could always do the old swaparooney and some cash your way... That's if you sell up and decide to get some $$ back on the parts..

This is the one for the Polo:

                DQ 200

APR Has there own DQ250 version from the US now, but won't work on the Polo (As it does not have that gearbox).

I've got Stage 1 and the DSG tune, which really does set the car up the it should have arrived from factory imo. If the shift-logic in your car annoys you multiple times per trip/day then you definitely will want to get the tune.
