66TDI Highway RPM (Possibly other models)
They all have (relatively) large engines, compared to the Polo's 1.6, which simply are better suited to passively burning soot from the DPF. Plus, driving style considerably affects the way soot builds up, and burns off, in the DPF, and being a manual, if you're not attuned to the way in which the DPF (and diesel engines) work, simple things like wrong gear choice can produce more soot or can prohibit the EGT to rise enough for the soot to burn off.
I'm glad it's worked for you without issue, but I was simply adding my two cents into the discussion.
Oil gets changed on time, and coincidentally, the DPF sensor was replaced a couple of months ago after the car threw an engine fault error. I suppose it's possible that it had been falsely reading soot levels for years, but the ECU had only just picked up on it, and so maybe now it will work as it should.
