Software update?

Was booked in for engine light and epc light on. End up changing a spark plug on cynlinder 1. And they did a software update.what is this about?how do i know there is a later version of software and what does it do to the car?(polo gti). I been driving for few days now ,feel smoother and car wont keep change up to 7.it make more sense to the speed and gear change is smoother too.am i thinking too much or is real?

think there was a DSG update... it makes it smoother yes... marginally, still a pain in the arse setup to improve economy.

Nope, car is a 2010 model

Hmm... how many hours do you work for free for your employee or for your customers, well they are decent and nice to you too?
Or.... what about if, something goes wrong during the sw upgrade, lets say that you've forgot to tell them about the performance tune or other gadget that you may attached to your car? Who would pay the bill to correct that, or pay for your lost time?

No one should ever work for free! The slavery was abolished many decades ago.
...and if you still expect that someone will work for free for you, then I'd say you need to get a job or more education to be able to get a job.

Wasn't there a TPI recently for this. If so surely a dealer would do it at next service.

Hopefully anyway as it is a manufacturers improvement not something that is optional.

dealer can only do a software update if there is a issue and a related TPI to back it up. you are not allowed just to carry out updates. As above doing a update can some times fail..then the ECU needs binning...who pays for that.. its a risk when updating...and even tho most of it is done by the pc you still need 15 mins to set it up and then the time its taking up a car space in the workshop and also roadtesting.. most basic updates take 1hr from carpark to customer...so thats why its not free too!
