  • Scrubbing GTI

Just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed scraping from their stock height gti. I have one downhill sharp right turn on my way home from work that I can get a scrubbing sound from the passenger side if I turn sharply.

I'd never heard it do it until recently, only thing new I can think has changed is higher tyre pressures.

    Any thoughts?

My old 6R GTI used to scrape on some steep driveways

      Sorry, used the wrong terminology.

Tyre scrubbing is what it sounds like

I know right...that's why I'm confused to hear what sounds like scrubbing. There surely must be another explanation.

Why don't you jump out of the car and check where it is scrubbing? :S

Turn to full lock, get your torch out and have a gander. Check both sides the turn the other way and check again.

Yeah I get that...and most would consider it common sense but it came across like it was being suggested to jump out whilst driving and inspect the rubbing simultaneously...I was kinda giggling at the comment

Why can't you jump out? Just test it in a quiet area and when you feel it happen, just stop and handbrake up in park and go have a look. Suspension travel shouldn't be effecting it unless your hitting the turn fast or you weight 300kg. Have you also checked the front lip air guide/spoiler in case that is what has been copping it?

Will check to see if there are marks, but given that I've only heard it maybe 5 times ever there might not be a wear situation. We'll see.

                          Thanks for the brainstorming.
