Bury phone cradle help pls.

I originally decided I wasnt going to use the VW Touch cradle for a phone, but my new phone (Galaxy S4 Mini) does nav so I figured I may as well use it, so this means that I need to locate it somewhere where I can see it... so I thought of the cradle thats doing sod all on my dash, like a lump of naff addon crap I never wanted, like buying an ex company car from a fleet LOL

Anyway, I cant see that Bury do a System 9 cradle for my S4 Mini, unless someone know if something else will fit??!

So I was going to buy the universal holder, can anyone tell me if Im doing the right thing, or if there is now a better way to use the VW supplied lump of plastic on the dash that has power and other connections Id really prefer to make use of?

We use it with a Samsung Galaxy S2. The S4 mini is slightly smaller than the S2 so it will fit no problems.

Silly extra question... do I need to order a cable separately or does it come with the cradle?

Yeah my cars are all good.
Polo has been drinking some oil. 500ml every 3000kays or so. Not as much as yours though. Hope yours improves.

it will fit your galaxy s4mini for sure, as it fit larger phone like galaxy s4 too. and it come with micro usb cable as well.

I use my s4 mini in a Bury universal xl, no problems at all.

Only annoying part of using my phone for navigation now is that I have to set media to not play through Bluetooth so I can hear the guidance if I'm not streaming music from the phone.

dening, that's a good point. I actually have all my music on a 1TB harddrive in the glovebox so wont be an issue for me, apart from thinking 'did the nav just squeak...?' LOL

Just be aware that the Bury cradle is not a VW cradle. It will fit and work fine, but it WILL require VCDS to code your Polo to accept the non-VW cradle.

Hey, I was thinking of doing the same thing to my Polo. I just picked up my brand new car <24 hours ago and the redundancy of that "Touch Adapter" is overwhelming. Much like a rotten fish left to stink up the whole car. I had to do something about it and I am asking my dealership's diagnostic technician to disable the the Touch Adapter. The person on the phone isn't quite sure what I'm asking for, mainly unsure if I want to remove or to disable it. Isn't it the same thing? I don't want to remove it physically, I just want to put a Bury S9 Universal XL Cradle in.

That "Touch Adapter"... my god. Can't even mention it, be it written or verbal, without emphasising how ridiculously stupid it is.

I have that redundant lump of plastic too... I understand that there is a genuine VW part available (Universal type) but as I have a Galaxy S% that is too small, I also have a latex/rubber cover that makes the phone a bit bigger.

I also resent the implication that I have to pay $250 for the item.

Can I buy this... and what else do I need to buy?

You can, but you'll also need VCDS coding. See This Article for more.

Hope the dealer has a clue because I don't think there is anyone else in Geelong to choose.

Now to work out if this part I saw on ebay can be installed neatly to the original base and that the S5 (not S%, lol) can be installed both in landscape and portrait orientations.

I just bought the XXL myself for the iPhone 6. Rotate easily.
Neatly is debatable - I don't find it as visually appealing as the all-in-one dock I had for the iPhone 5.

The phone specs I see for it are:
Height: 105mm to 142mm
Width: 46mm to 80mm
Depth: 8mm to 20mm

Sadly I believe a naked S5 is 142mm high, so you could be in for some difficulty
