Hi everyone! Well devastating news, our year old Polo with 40k kms needs a completely new clutch, and VW dealer will see if VW Australia will consider anything other than us handing over $2250. Financially there's no way we can afford this, with Permanent Residency visa issues etc. And owning many a manual cars, a clutch doesn't give out in 40k kms. Has to be an issue or defect. Our great mechanic agrees and I would like to see if possible, any of you would be kind enough to write a statutory declaration, citing the Polo you have, it's VIN, how many kms and if your clutch is still in non slip condition! I know Alex you said you have over 80k and two learner drivers. And still fine. If anyone could write one for us, just with your vin your type of polo, year, kms, and type of drivers and if anyone has gotten more than 40k km out of their clutch. If anyone could help we'd honestly take any of those who help out for a beer. We owe money on the car and won't have a car to even drive. And I want to take Gavs suggestion about the stat decs so I can present to VW and show them that this is too soon to fail. Please guys and thank you all!

Polo 6R owners with a manual gearbox...please help!
I'll see what I can do.
As said before, my car's been through hell (2 learner drivers) and is just about to hit 80,000 kms and the clutch still works perfectly.Last edited by alexaescht; 19-11-2013, 07:39 PM.Alex Aescht

Wow sorry to hear that. One thing I would be doing mate is checking with another dealer.
$2250 is an absolute rip off so something isn't right. My uncle got his caddy's clutch replaced a bit past 120,000km and it only cost 1400 from memory (at the dealer).
$2250 is dual clutch DSG money...

That sucks, clutch on my 2011 6R is 58k old and still bites just fine, happy to sign / write anything u want.
What is VW position? "It's a wear and tear item" i'm guessing? Which is realistically true, much like brakepads, unless perhaps the thickness of the friction plate was not at spec thickness to begin with or it was dragging somehow causing it to wear prematurely?
like i say, happy to help in any way i can for uMy Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
