  • HELP. 2013 Polo GTi

    Hi there,

I've just stumbled past this forum and thought you guys would be the best to help me on the decision of buying a new polo gti.

I've gone to the Mildura vw. I've got it quoted for 37k
That's with the sat nav and tint.
The issue is it worth buying, I have read some of the posts on the forums and they seem to be filled with negative things written about the polo gti. Have you guys had any issues with them and any regrets?

I've had mine for over 2 years now. In hindsight I kick myself every day that I didn't buy the golf GTI ex-demo that was on the lot for the same price as my polo GTI. Why didn't I get it instead? It didn't have xenon lights. Would I recommend anyone to buy a polo GTI? Nope.

Thanks for the reply. Have the 2013 models had any gearbox troubles?

37 with extras that was, 28 is a good deal congrats but 37 was the cheapest I could get it for, with a sat nav, tint and leather seats (well not full leather). And I consulted various of vw dealerships

The golf gti standard was 46k when I got qouted. A 10k jump is a huge one.

If you do go the polo Don't buy it with sat nav they sting you between 2.5k to 3.5k extra when you can buy them for much less and there a breeze to install and a multitude of people who could help in Victoria. Search for the who can help with VCDS thread.
The RNS510 (satnav) can be purchase of eBay as low as $700 or so. Or the latest units with Aus warranty can be purchased from another forum member at Home page. You will save thousands.

I wouldn't drop that much on a Polo GTI, it is a great car and I love mine but I paid 10k less than that. If I were spending 37,000 I'd be looking at a demo or run out golf mk vi gti.

And finally if you think long term, you'll not get any extra trade in for your 5-6 grand if extras.

I paid 32k for my mk13.5 5dr with the leather, no sat nav though. I also would say thats a bit much

Had mine for 5 months now, once had to fill the oil at 2,000kms but otherwise it's been fine *touch wood*

I do recommend the car, the issues people have had I wouldn't listen to too much, as for every one person who complains there will be so many more who had no issues but said nothing about it.

But sadly I wouldn't go with that price. I work at a car dealership doing accounting and costings. Tint cost dealers no more than $150 so anything more than $300 they are bull****ting you (like they did to me, I just laughed and said no thanks).

The Sat Nav maybe a 2k extra is fair enough price but to me that would still only push the price to 34k or 35k at absolute most. But that's just my opinion...

That's good to hear thanks. Yeah I will definantly bounce back the price. They qouted the sat nav to be 3.5k I thought that was extremely expensive. But it's needed because the gf and I are moving to sydney and it will be very useful.

Ha ha You think so.. Spend $200 on a Tomtom or a Garmin and even the least flash one will be better than the VW rubbish.

As a multimedia unit it is quite good As a Satnav it makes a good boat anchor No sorry it doesn't its not heavy enough LOL

I have one because it was in the car and my wife liked the car and bought it.

Would I get it in another NO unless I bought an Ebay one for a far more realistic price.

Tint NEVER GET IT OFF A STEALER I got a 100ser Landcruiser done fully for $150 cash

He did my whole house for $1000.

Ask on here for a recommendation and get it done later

If the car has the RCD 510 radio you can sell that for $250 and put that towards and Ebay sat nav (RNS510)

Just my thoughts after being caught once with paint protection and once with the VW satnav

I initially kicked myself for not getting a Golf GTI or a second hand R for about $8-10k more, HOWEVER, I love my Polo GTI, touch wood, no issues, it's a MY12.5 and she goes hard.

With the stage 1 tune and the coils she looks fantastic and surprisingly beats a lot of cars.

                          Highly recommended.

I had same thought about going for a Golf GTi but quite happy I didn't now (that being said had I had the extra $$ I would have most likely gone 86 GTS)

Do you have an iPhone? I use my Apple Maps through the Bluetooth as my GPS, works brilliantly! And cost me nothing. Plus who wants to spend the extra money getting the upgrades that they need? I recently moved to Sydney myself so I know the feeling of being lost in this city at times.

You can do better, but each to their own, don't let anyone tell you what to do.

Got a base level 13.5 for $29k drive-away. I paid too much for tint on top of that, as people have said don't pay more than $300 for it. IMO they can do better on the price, if you can just get a base gti and do what you want to it after, will be cheaper.

Mine hasn't had problems with oil or dsg so I'm perfectly happy so far.
