Help!!!!

Hi Guys

I have a 2011 Polo 1.4 Comfortline 6R and I am from South Africa. I am interested in the Euroline 15” 5x100 rims.
I am not to sure if the rim is going to fit my car, but would like your advice on this.

I know the original wheel comes with a 185x60x15 rim with an offset of 40 if I am correct. I currently have the replica rim of the Cross Polo on my car, but want a smaller wheel on my car. I have a 205x45x17 tyre on and it’s got an offset of 35 I think.

I want to know if the 8J rim will fit with a set of 205x50x15 OR 215x50x15 tyres on my polo 6R.

Have a look for a good online wheel and tyre fitment calculator.

You can then compare your stock size to whatever size you're looking to go.

Try to keep the rolling diameter within 2% so your speedo is still accurate.

As far as offset/width goes if you don't have rubbing issues at present and you're happy with how flush the wheels sit to the body/guards I'd be looking to keep things the same.

You haven't told us the rim size and offset that you're proposing (only tyre sizes) so you've only given half the information needed to determine how they are going to fit.

Thanks for the suggestions man.
I have dropped the car with the OEM 30mm drop kit from Eibach. I am still undecided if i should go for a 7.5J or a 8J rim. If i go 8J then the 225x50x15 would be the perfect tyre to fit to keep the speedo almost exact, but i might have issues w.r.t. rubbing and other issues maybe. the 215x50x15 would be the best option in terms of speedo within 2% and also fitting without any rubbing, (not 100% sure though). the 205x50x15 would definately fit, but the speedo would be almost 3% out.

The other option is going 7.5J which would be easier to choose a 225x50x15 tyre, but unsure if it will fit and also how it would look compared against a 8J rim with 215x50x15 tyre. is it possible to put a 225 tyre on a 7.5J rim?

so basically it comes down to 8J rim with 215x50x15 or 225x50x15 or 7.5J rim with 215x50x15 or 225x50x15

So i am not to sure if i go 8J or 7.5J what the correct et should be. i suspect anything between 35 and 40.

The Polo speedos generally read 6-7kph fast at 100kph and to bring it accurate would take a wheel and tyre 40mm LARGER.

So if you put smaller one on it will be waaaaay fast

Ok, this is what is says

comparing 185x60x15 6j et40 vs 225x50x15 8j et35

When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 60.4mph (97.2km/h): 0.7% faster.

Suspension
Package is 15 mm (0.6'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Acceptable for most cars.

Fenders
Package will stick out 25 mm (1'') farther. Make sure that you have enough room under the fender. If not, consider narrower tires or higher offset.

Wheelwells
Will fill out the wheelwell by extra 2 mm. Almost no difference

Everything seems to be in order and i don't see any rub anywhere. height and speedometer reading is almost identical.
The only issues seems to be if the 8J rim will fit in the front and rear and also the tyre of 225x50x15.

I'm not sure what the offset of your 225 are but the stock 17" (215/40r17 7J) Boavista's are +38 and I tell you the wheel sits so close to the front suspension components (back is ok) you can't even put snow chains on let along get your fingers down.

If yours keeps the same offset expect it to hit the strut

What I was meaning that your speedo reads fast at stock and to correct it requires larger wheels and tyres.

Using that comparator I would have needed 40mm larger diameter to get the speedo to read 100kph at 100kph.

So you have to factor in the fact that what the deviation is from your "stock" reading which is 107 and work from there .
