  • Rims - will it Fit??

Alright guys ive found another set of RPF1's which i was think about putting on my polo seeing as mine are 17 i wanted to maybe get 18's buy my problem is these rims which are a very good price are 18x9.5............ 235 tyres on the front and 255 on the rear. Will these even get close to fitting on the polo? anyone ever tried this??

    You help is dearly appreciated

Mine is only a guess, but I would say, no - at least, not for daily driving

The standard ones are 215/40 17 right??

    rolling diameter about 603mm

If you want to use a 255 on the back, it will have to be a 30 series tyre to get you close the right diameter (too large though still, by about 15mm id say)

for the 235 a 30 series will be about right.

Both of those will be expensive I'd say.

Theres no way the 255 being wider and larger in diameter will fit in the arches properly. You'd have to run a much narrower tyre to have any chance.

I would guess a 225/40/18 would have a better chance to fit, but ofcourse will be very stretched.

They would fit, you would just have a decent amount of poke. Take a look at ATYPIC car he is running 9'' all around I'm pretty sure, so yours would poke 0.5'' more than his if you run the same offset.

id say you would have to run some stretch. you would have a fair bit of poke, but i dout it would fit with the tire sizes you mentioned.

Yeh I don't have coilovers so I guess with poke I run the risk of damaging guards etc.. Might be best I just stick to the current rims

So much to consider here but in short....no for 18x9.5...no for 235 and no for 255.

This whole configuration is extreme even without considering offsets and tyre profiles.

Depends on offset, but you're going to have a hell of a time.
From memory that size was +35 which would poke about an inch, good luck with that.
