  • DSG Warranty Recall & Tuned...

Who here has their car tuned and falls into this latest VW DSG recall category?

I've only received my first letter from VW, not the second. I'm very enthusiastic to have my car tuned right now but I'm concerned if I proceed that VW will not grant the warranty for the recall.

I could be waiting a week or a year before my car gets recalled...however I can't wait that long for the tune unfortunately.

    Thoughts please.

I had a jetta that was chipped that eventually had the DSG replaced under warranty a few years ago. No mention of the tune was made to me during the process.

The recall is still valid, even if the vehicle was tuned. You might as well tune it now and if the DSG fails it should get fixed under the conditions of the recall.

In order to have the 35C1 carried out it is upon you as the owner to contact your local dealer / service center to have the replacement mechatronics unit installed...my car goes in October...I'd assume you'd be lucky to get in late October / early November.

What makes you believe that I would be lucky to get in before November?...aren't we in different states of this grand ole land?

According to the information in the first letter...I am to wait until the second letter is received before the process is moved forward.

I think I'll proceed with getting the tune based on Transporter's info...seems to make enough sense to me.

Don't ask me...ask my case manager he suggested that waiting for the second letter could lead to a wait til around September...to which each dealership has only one or two fully trained technicians to carry out that particular recall. So in short he called up my dealership in which they called me...and ding mecha unit is going in October.

I went in to our nearest dealer last week as I was in the area and they said they had no parts yet and put my name on a list of about 12 to be notified when parts will be available.

We have had no trouble with the car at all so far anyway

I've got ECU and DSG tuned and have my second letter. My only problem is there's not much time between getting the recall done and going down to the Phillip Island circuit to get the tune reloaded

The 2nd letter is only sent out when there is a new replacement part ready with your VIN on it (not sure it literally or metaphorically).

They are bringing lots of mechatronics units in but from my understanding are releasing them in waves to avoid service departments getting flooded with the work.

Only 2 technicians in a dealership who can do the job? LOL that's not true.

Why is everyone getting their letters now and saying parts haven't come in.

I got my recall done 3 weeks ago now.

I just got off the phone from a complete di#k of a service agent...seriously, they must train these people to treat us like utter fools.

Last week I called a different dealership where I purchased my car, and was told I should have received my second letter already, to which I replied..."no I have not received it...and this is why I am calling". I was then politely told he would look into it and get back to me. No call as yet.

So just this morning, I speak to a scumbag at SY dealership and was informed they cannot tell me when the second letter will be sent out but it won't be far away. The moment I began telling him I had already been informed otherwise of my second letter...and can I give you my rego number to check... he replied with a sharp NO!!, and his whole tone changed and he began talking over the top of me relentlessly.

The blood pressure pinged so I then reminded him of the public's general perception of the constant and ongoing fingering and bad attitude displayed by the many employees towards us customers. I then hung up!
