If you get the trial for the APR tune, you will not want to go back to stock. Its worth it. I'm not sure about the other tuners but I hear Viezu is just as good as APR (someone with a Viezu tune feel free to chime in)
There are numerous people on here that have the APR & Viezu tune that could attest to the fact it is worth it. In terms of failures, these tunes are made so that it works on stock components and works within the tolerances of the parts so nothing will be working out of the ordinary. If something were to malfunction, there is a very small chance it would be due to the tune.

I just got a APR tune and I must be the only one that hasn't notice much difference but that's getting of the path and a different story.
I pretty sure the APR trial is only for tunes throught the OBD port (thats whats mentioned on there website) which you can't do with the polo as it needs to be bench tuned.
If you go APR and want the ability to erase codes (which is one of the features) you need to ask as its a seperate upload to the tune.
Which I didn't find out untill after it was done.
Also if you want a certine code for locking feature let them know or you will get whatever they chose as its not a random number it's what the tuner puts in.

There is the ability to erase fault codes. So for example you unplug something with the ignition on it will log and store a fault. One you plug it back in you can then clear the fault if this option is uploaded during the tune.
There is also a security code for the tune so you can lock It and no one else can change the program it's on. Wether it be the 98ron tune or stock

I don't have a beef (as yet) I just haven't noticed much of a difference drivability wise. Iv had a thew cars I have got tuned and you can tell the difference between stock and tuned straight up ( throttle response, pickup, no flat spots ect). This one I can't. I'm not going to make any calls untill I look into it more. Going to do some runs when I get my gear back from a mate. Maybe a quick dyno check. But I ran around the block in stock and then went to the tune and did the same block after it had cooled back down (amb temp was the same) and felt no difference. Might check boost with vcds but I'm not sure if boost is increased with the tune or not, where and what increase from stock.

True, but VW will disagree. If you are worried about a vehicle with issues with seals, rings and DSG, think about your warranty.Originally posted by jayc29u View PostIf something were to malfunction, there is a very small chance it would be due to the tune.
My Polo (older 1.8t) is a very reliable engine, many suitable spares out there and a generic gearbox. Your fancy TFSI and DSG are crazy expensive to repair if something goes sour.
Sorry for the gloomy attitude, but you need to make an informed decision. VW is known to put up walls as soon as they see the ECU has been touched.

We don't like to do trials on vehicles that are bench flashed, it takes considerable labor & there is a certain amount of risk every time you open an ECU - so we suggest you utilise the money back guarantee. there are a couple of hundred happy twincharger owners running with APR around Australia.

My only concern is that these vehicles have not been running stage 1's for long durations and thus there's no way of knowing what the long term affects are on the engine etc?Originally posted by Guy_H View PostWe don't like to do trials on vehicles that are bench flashed, it takes considerable labor & there is a certain amount of risk every time you open an ECU - so we suggest you utilise the money back guarantee. there are a couple of hundred happy twincharger owners running with APR around Australia.

No true at all. The apr project polo has been running in stage 2 guise for nearly 2 years now and there are a few members on here that have had apr tunes for almost as long.Originally posted by llai8501 View PostMy only concern is that these vehicles have not been running stage 1's for long durations and thus there's no way of knowing what the long term affects are on the engine etc?sigpic

Remember the same engine is in the 118TSI Golf. I've been running APR Stage 1 since December 2010 (not sure how long "long" is in your post)
