  • New member from the UK saying hello.........

HI guys, just joined from the UK. Been a long term lurker and thought it was high time I joined to take part in the banter and thought at the same time I would introduce the wife's new Polo that's just arrived.

She currently has a 2011 VW Polo 6R 1.4 SEL DSG in Flash Red and 17" Boavista' alloys, (her second Polo) however we got a call from the dealer today to say the wife's new Polo - a Blue GT had arrived. Called in on my way home from work, and it would have been rude not to take some photos. Have to say, even though it was dirty, it did look stunning.

Still got a couple of weeks wait before collecting, as we are off on holiday soon and it also needs the cherished plate from her current car transferring to the new one.

To surmise, these are the options we went for:

    Xenon Headlights
    Climate Control
    Multi function steering wheel
Convenience pack (auto dimming mirror and auto rain sensing wipers)
    Winter pack
    Airbag deactivation switch
    DSG Gearbox

To the pre delivery photos.....(sorry, got a bit carried away)

Got the fog light parts already in the boot as promised, and did a deal today where they are going to throw in the chrome exhaust pipe trims and underseat storage boxes for free as well. I've certainly got a lot to do when we do eventually take delivery

She certainly is a really nice looking car, and considering we ordered it blind (never having seen a Blue GT or the metallic blue in real life - just in brochures as they are still rarer than hens teeth in the UK), we really like what we have seen.

Have some jobs for when we pick her up which keeps increasing but currently is:

    ● Fit proper VW Bluetooth phone kit from her existing Polo

    ● Fit RNS-510 from my current Scirocco (when my GTD Golf arrives).

    ● Fit underseat storage drawers to both seats.

    ● Fit front fog lights, grills and new switch.

    ● Fit honeycombed lower grill from GTI (prefer this to the slatted one).

    ● Fit her genuine VW black / Chrome "Polo" door sill trims.

    ● Full clean, detail, machine polish, wax etc. Remove wheels and fully wax seal.

    ● Fit Chromed tail pipe trims.

    ● Fit front footwell lights (have these in her current Polo SEL - why they are not in a more expensive GT, god only knows).

    ● Remove "Bluemotion" badge from beneath the "GT" badge on the boot lid.

    ● Fit my special H7 xenon bulbs to the cornering light in the headlights (couldn't believe how yellow the standard bulb was compared to the xenon dipped/main beam).

In the UK, for some strange reason, when you ordered Xenon headlights, you have to sacrifice the fog lights, and we thought it left the front a bit boring, so we did a deal with the dealer that he would throw in all the hardware for a fog light retro fit FOC, and I would do the fitting. All the parts to do this were already sat in the boot waiting for me (fog lamps, grills, new light switch, connectors, bulbs etc).

Anyway, this is what we are hoping she will look like with the fogs fitted, and perhaps without the white protective sheet on the bonnet (very quick and dirty PS edit).

and with the GTI Grill (just because we prefer it to the slatted one)

Sorry for a rambling first post in this forum, but hopefully you like as I don't think I've seen any Blue GT's on here (are there any) ?

    Cheers

for the sake of a bit of history, here's her current 1.4 SEL DSG (note with proper VW 9W7 Bluetooth unit instead of that silly dash mounted bury system):

        Thanks.

You mean next to the right hand side seat heater button ? If so that's the Stop/Start technology on off switch.

Welcome Sootchucker. Very impressive. Great to see someone as enthusiastic as you about their new car. I'd be very interested in details about your new GTD when you get it as well. In the meantime, enjoy the new experience.
PS. I like what you're doing to the front of the new polo. Looks great.

              Scootchucker,
Thanks for the pictures of the BlueGT, very interesting. Like many great things, they just don't make it to Aus. The BlueGT isn't sold here at the present time. On another note, I can see your white Scirocco in the background of the pics but what on earth is your third car (the other 2 door red thing)?

Thanks all for the warm welcome.

TSI-dan: that other red car was my neighbours city car. It's a Citroen C1, which was a joint venture between Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota here in Europe. All offered the same car under their own branding with very subtle differences. Very popular here in the UK as shopping cars due to them being dirt cheap.

Ah well guys, you may not get the cars, but you do get a beautiful country and wonderful climate. Can't have everything I suppose.

It's the engine out of the new Golf 7 Highline, except with cylinder deactivation included. So 103kw and 250nm. Would be a great drive!

                            Welcome to the forums.
The Blue GT has really intrigued me since I first read about its release.
I don't think we'll ever get it here unfortunately, doesn't seem to be a price point it could slip into.
What I like the most are the subtle aero bits around the 'A' pillars and on the rear screen.
Would love to know what the VW part numbers are for these and if they could be purchased online somehow.
I'm guessing they could be fitted to retro-fitted to other models easily.
Have you had a chance to look under the car? Is there any extra aero panels under there that aren't on the other models?

                            Cheers
                            Rob

All this talk about Polo Blue Gt on here reminded me of a question I asked a while ago.
Anyone know a way to buy those aero bits shown in pics above as replacements from dealer overseas?
The ones that are on the rear window and front 'A' pillar around the windscreen.
