  • Polo 5th Generation 6R Facelift or Something Else

Just saw this article on some test-mules that have been spotted driving around Europe... Interested to see if this is a facelift, or something more. Maybe they're testing new running gear, engines or perhaps the all new, next generation MQB Polo finds itself underneath the old sheet metal... Thoughts?

Cant see it being MQB as it looks the same. Seems like a lot of work for the same look / chassis.
Expecting the twincharge engine to be dropped for future models, but who knows when or maybe they will get it right (like it has largely been for the golf 1.4)

If you look at the high-res photos you'll notice it has Skoda number plates. Skoda often uses VW and Audi cars/bodies as test mules. So more than likely it is testing updated Fabia mechanicals - most likely in the early phases. Hard to tell if there is a chassis change, though probably not yet and it is just testing other components i.e. engine, gearbox, brakes etc.

If it is indeed an upcoming Fabia then it will either use the current Polo platform or the new MQB.
If the later then the component set would have to be tested on the new chassis... the new chassis is the reason the Golf has a brand spanking new 1.4L T engine.

The current Fabia is ancient.. released 2007 and based on the previous model Polo chassis.

Whatever it is, that front apron is horrible.

Hmmm i think by the looks of that and the new golf that the new Polo GTI will be an extremely good looking car.. well i think anyway
I smell a more agressive front end which many people have been waiting for
