  • Potential buyer here. Questions

Wanted to buy a polo tsi comfortline, not in a hurry to get one, but would be good to have one soon

    1. When will next polo come out since its almost june soon? I dont want to buy one now and then to see new model come put straight away

    2. Is $24k to $25k good price? So far i have rang up and got quoted that i could get new polo, comfort and sport pack drive away for that price.

    3. How much resonably i could bargain dwon from that pricr (if this is a reasonable price

    4. Does it matter much if the car is a little bit more old than another car from another dealer but both MY13?

    5. Any differences between MY13 and MY13.5 cars?

    Thanks in advance

    Hey skyhskyh!

    To answer your queries...

    1. The next generation Polo (Gen 6) is not expected to be unveiled until Q2 next year.

    2. $24-25K for a 77TSI Comfortline with Comfort & Sports Pack is an excellent price! I paid $26,500 late 2011 for a MY12.5 77TSI with the Comfort Pack, Sport Pack and Audio Pack (and that was a 'discounted price' through a friend of mine).

    3. You could probably get some small extras such as Carpet or Rubber Mats or even (if you're lucky) the RCD510 thrown in for that price (usually $770 for RCD510).

    4. It won't matter at all. If they're both MY13's then chances are there are no manufacturing differences between the two.

    5. I can't tell at this stage... I'd doubt that they would be major changes, perhaps someone else might now, but I think they would all be guesses at this early stage.

    Hope this helps!

Is there an audio pack? Doesnt say in the brochure

      What is RCD510?
In the brochure, theres satelite bav system RNS510 which they say it will cost me another approx $2k something.
I assumed RCD510 may be an older version of RNS510?
so Did you mean asking them to install older version into the car ?

Tinting windows, the lady said this is another option on top of the sport pack tinted windows (this one does front 2 and match the others colours): $400, reasonable?

      Parking sensor: $695, reasonable?
Expensive, not sure i want that.

What other options and accessories is a should / must have?

        RNS 510: Sat-nav and Radio.
RCD 510: Basically the same as the RNS, but only a radio with no sat-nav.

The car comes standard with the RCD 310 which really is just a radio, my Polo came with the RCD 510 for some reason (it was owned by Berwick VW) and I can say its very good. The touchscreen and large clear colour screen makes it much easier to change channels etc without having to concentrate too much
Although, I would like a built-in sat nav...

RCD 510 has a 6 disc changer and is a double Din unit RCD310 is single disc and single din Wouldnt waste the money on a Satnav The mapping and text to speech is crap. Far better to buy the RCD 510 and a $200 Tomtom or similar and save $2500
You can buy a RCD510 on Ebay or on here occasionally for under $300 so dont pay dealer for it Our dealer wanted a premium price for mats so I bought them at the parts dept for $50 less than he wanted when I bought the car. Yes its got an audio jack Is a 3.5mm socket that you plug a headphone jack into.

Our Polo Comfortline cost $24,000 in 2010 but they are cheaper now it seems

Curious to ask where is your source? So far VWG have said nothing of even the sketch mock ups of the VW Polo (Gen 6) as they are busy re-designing the Scirocco platform (top to bottom).

If it were me I would not be putting more tint on factory tinted windows. It might even end up unwittingly making the tint illegal.

My advice? Go on Carsales and pick yourself up a nearly-new Polo GTI. I did, for $26k I got my MY12 Polo GTI with only 18000km on it. The original owner purchased it in Feb 2012 and paid $33k. Let someone else take the depreciation hit. Great value.

Well there was a supposed 'spy shot' of a new Polo in Drive a couple of weeks back (but I never really trust the editorial accuracy of SMH's Drive at times) but who knows! Also, VWAG usually releases new generations every four years. Mk6 Golf: 2009 - 2013... Perhaps the Polo 2010 - 2014?

I have a liitle concerned with:

                    1. No Capped Servicing. (Not sure if it's going to be a big deal or not, but feel "safer")

                    2. I don't have the skills to know whether the car had problems previously.

                    3. Warranty last only 3 yrs usually right? So that means i might only have 1yr covered if i purchase older gti

                    ***

Is it already financial year sales? or Should i wait 2 more months?

                      Got another quote:

                      Comfort + sport pack.

Luggage net , boot foam liner,

                      Floor mats, rubber

                      Door sill protection,

                      Roof rack

They might be able to change rd310 to rd510.

                      $24990

Best price so far i have found is $23990 drive away comfort and sport pack. Dsg auto. No accessories

Don't worry if they cant upgrade RCD310 or want to charge heaps. There are plenty of OEM RCD510's you can get aftermarket for $300-380 depending on if you need MDI or not.

                          1. Yes there is no capped price servicing on a pre owned car, but the GTI is leagues ahead of the 77 TSI for driver enjoyment!

                          2. You'll be covered by balance of new car warranty. Get a REVS check done on the VIN to check the car is not under finance or has written off

                          3. Yes you only have balance of new car warranty but get a one year old car and you get 2 years of (relatively) worry free fun!

I'm biased however. But test drive a GTI at least

MDI and Bluetooth is standard now, swapping to an RCD510 is a very easy DIY.

A low mileage 2nd hand Polo would have me worried about buying someone elses DSG and oil consumption issues. The thrill of owning a brand new car with potent new car smell is worth a few thou anyway. You'll miss the MFD. Of course you cant have too many kW but you can have too few. The tsi has enough to be satisfying. On the steepest hills you will have to downshift looking for a few of the missing kW but in general driving you'll find it has enough zip to get in and out of traffic. I live in Wollongong and the 12k real life dyno called Mt Ousley is easily done in 5th gear so long as nothing gets in your way.

Comfort pack is great. You'll love the auto dimming rear vision mirror. You'll also love the climate control. I have mine set on auto 22 degrees permanantly. Only on the hottest days did I turn it down to 21. The sport pack tint, wheels and springs are a bargain. If you dont need to go aftermarket to express your individuality it is fantastic value for money. If you go tsi you would be mad not to get both IMO.

The mats are a rip off. I haggled $130 for front only the day after I picked up my car. Try and get them thrown in as a bonus.
