  • Do you have Xenons... and covers??

    Hello everyone,

Just ordered a Polo GTI with Xenons and paid for the Genuine Headlight covers...

Got home and started thinking that the covers may not fit if the Xenons also have washers.

Not sure if they do... can anyone help and do you have any pictures of what they look like?

    Cheers...

The washer jets are normally a little way down the bumper so you should be fine.

Porbably does weird things to the beam pattern refraction....

Or they want you to get a stonechip and then have to pay the 1k replacement fee at the dealership.

Was to do with dirt getting behind covers and not getting washed off. Makes sense I guess

Thanks guys... makes perfect sense... suppose I could use some Light Skin (Polycarbonate Contact) instead.

Should also be ok if I keep them spotless... which I will. My dealer said nothing when I added them to the purchase order but it will be the first thing I look for in the owners manual. Will talk to VW Australia too.

Would be a pain in the a**e taking them off each time you wash it as they are held on by two clips at the top which would have to be loosened each time.

How much did they rob you for them Ours cost $89 from VW parts and front and rear Mudflaps were $87.40

They're just plastic covers for the front headlights. Nothing special. Designed to stop scratches and dents from thrown-up rocks hitting the actual lens of the headlight.

$9 more from dealer but they will fit them for me... if I want them too. Which I doubt I do! lol
I do not believe that the GTI will allow Mudflaps to be installed.

Clear Perspex covers that sit flush (small air gap) and cover the entire Headlight assembly from damage as per "alexaescht's" post above.
