  • Ideas for stereo replacement?

Got a RCD 310 system in a VW Polo 77TSI 2012 (with the gay bluetooth touch adapter).

Thinking about upgrading to the RCD 510 system to get Bluetooth audio working with good quality.

But can't find the system for sale from any reliable seller...

So i'm open to some ideas, i've seen chinese look a likes, but I wouldn't trust them!

    Requirements:
    - Plug and play
    - Looks good (don't want aftermarket look)
    - Works with steering control
    - Good bluetooth (audio streaming, address book access, phone calls etc)
    - iPhone extras a bonus
    - $500-600 budget

GPS not required, but would be nice extra if fits in budget.

To get the bluetooth and the RCD510, your going to be looking at close to 800,
I know a bloke who will install RCD510, and a 9w7 bluetooth unit for around that price, and do VCDS coding if required

I currently have the RCD510 atm which has the phone button, as eventually i will get a 9w7 unit myself however i have been informed that the bluetooth microphone has to be installed elsewhere if you do not have a comfort line ( this is because there is no reserve spot in the interior lights, but i believe it can be placed just above the steering wheel with some fiddling)

If u need someone PM me

      Who what huh?

His Polo already has the 9W7 style BT system. Just buy a RCD510 for about $300-350, code out the BT touch adapter (see my signature below) with VCDS and you're golden. You can also grab the RNS510 for Navigation and DVD playback.

Also, if your Polo has the BT adapter it should be capable of A2DP playback with your iphone.

I bought my RCD510 off eBay seller vw_parts_aus and he was very friendly, installed it for free too. Only cost $300. He can also hook you up with Bluetooth. I'd recommend trying him. Search his user name in eBay.

^ +1 I got mine from the same guy very reliable, quite happy with the buy. There are 3 different models you can get:

The Chinese/American one (that cannot support the MDI, only AUX and has fewer buttons, and a inferior internal AMP) $299

The European Bosch one (WITHOUT reverse camera support, and the same AMP as the European RCD310, which Australia gets) $380 - this is the one I bought because I don't need a reversing camera

The European Bosch one (WITH reverse camera support, and the same AMP as the European RCD310, which Australia gets) $460~ roughly

Also don't pay to get it installed either. It's a 30 second job, no joke! Pull the air rounding plastic off from around the radio (from the bottom of the hazard light/stability control buttons to the air con controls. Then 4 screws hold it in. Pull the plug out in the back of the unit and your done...

            correct already have the bluetooth.

I can play audio via the BT adapter, however, the quality is shocking! not a bit bad, it sounds like a phone call via dodo mobiles on a 1999 cell phone.

Nice... though, i'm tempted by a non-vw sat nav system. the RNS510 system is too much at $1000+ when you see other systems for $600ish

Is the A2DP the text to speech?

How do you get this going (is this discussed somewhere else)?

Has anyone installed a decent aftermarket 2din head unit into a 6r to replace the rcd510?

Any complications with the vcds/canbus electronics stuff? Is it even plausible?
